Fruit protection for season 2021/22: financial assistance plan

Fruit protection is a must for farmers. The Ministry of Agro-industry has launched a financial assistance plan for them. The aid plan for the purchase of protection nets for the 2021/22 season was valid from September 27 to October 8, 2021. Under this plan, beneficiaries will obtain a  grant of 75% which will cover the cost of a maximum of 5 trees for backyards and 60 for orchards. It will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The aim of this is to encourage the purchase of nets to protect fruits from attacks by birds and bats. This concerns fruit farmers (lychees, mangoes, ‘longans’, and strawberries) and in addition the general public. Individuals interested in the grant should contact the FAREI officers.
