Vegetable vendor Sandesh Imrit says rain is beneficial for production. This results in lower prices of vegetables like “chouchou” at Rs 20 and “giraumon” at Rs 25. Though some vegetables are still expensive, prices for more affordable ones like “calebasse, pipengaille, and concombre” will drop soon. This means consumers can enjoy a wider range of vegetables for cheap prices.
Sandesh Imrit, a Port-Louis market vendor, expects “pomme d’amour” prices to remain high due to production shortages. However, the end of the month and the upcoming fasting period will be boosting the sales.
Although some vegetables remain expensive, most are now more affordable, including “calebasse”, “pipengaille”, and “concombre“.
