A series of recommendations have been made for the development of the cane industry in Mauritius

The World Bank has submitted a ‘policy note’ which was presented by the Ministry of Agro-industry on Feb 5 2022 in Port-Louis, in the presence of all stakeholders in the cane sector.
Among these recommendations, the development of special sugars which are already exported to around fifty countries. The World Bank will provide technical assistance to Mauritius for the implementation of the recommendations. Minister of Agro-industry Maneesh Gobin points out that several actions have already been taken by the government to relieve and boost this key sector of the Mauritian economy.
