THE INCREASING INTEREST OF FOOD SELF-SUFFICIENCY

Since the first confinement, Mauritians have been showing more interest in the topic of food self-sufficiency. Therefore, the University of Mauritius is participating in this initiative. For the beginning of the academic year, in November 2021, the Faculty of Agriculture is offering a new course, namely Bsc Crop Technology. It is a minor course in sheltered farming,. It will include a 6-month internship. In addition University of Mauritius offers another course related to this topic; Msc in Tropical Animal Production. The purpose is to introduce the concept of smart agriculture and promote food self-sufficiency for the younger generation.
